I can really get behind this new genre of journalism, reporters and editors slamming their corporate owners

It shows how far we are from a functioning competitive economy— that you can't run a damn web site without being part of a corporate behemoth susceptible to a leveraged buyout, itself an insanity in an economic system that should want to reward quality or innovation not dirty financial tricks.

A competitive economy would mean that all the people of Gawker/Gizmodo could quit and start their own company... as suggested here:
