Here's an easy New Year's resolution— get supplemental sources of vitamin D.

I'm throwing my lot in with those who say even the palest and most outdoorsy among us don't get enough without supplements at non-tropical latitudes in the winter.

Anyhow, up to 8,000 IU daily should be safe, and it seems likely that the science of exactly how Vitamin D helps the body (which except for bone density, which requires only minimal Vitamin D, mostly isn't known) will catch up with the epidemiological science that suggests significant benefits:
